Communication

The Bean is a stereotypical guy - he doesn't pick up on hints and he takes things pretty literally.

If I were to say to him in a pitiful tone, "I...I.... <siiiiiiigh>.....I don't want to talk about it right now...."  He would take me at face value and change the subject.

Girly, emotional games are lost on him, which is fine, because I've never been very good at those kinds of games anyways.

Despite his lack of emotional intuition, I find that The Bean and I have developed an incredible, intuitive ability to know how the other is feeling.

When he's happy, I know it.  I can hear it in his voice, and I can see it in his posture when he enters the room, before he's even spoken a word.

When I'm feeling down, or am grumpy, he picks up on it almost instantly.

It's almost eerie how he knows my moods, without me having to say a single word.

They say that good communication is the key to a good marriage.

I agree.

Wow...I am showing my blogger.com illiteracy again. I just tried to remove the comment so I could correct a spelling mistake and now it looks like I said something that I had to come back and censor! Fantastic. Here's the original comment:

"I love this! You could have been describing the DPH when you wrote how the Bean will take you at face value when you saw you don't want to discuss something. The DPH is improving by leaps and bounds...although this idea of yours is genius. I might have to break it out when we hit a plateau!"

Good communication is key. A frowny face in a bowl of food is still better than someone who nitpicks. Not that I know anyone who does so, or nitpicks the more angry she gets...lalala.

Honey, men need Very. Clear. Instructions. Short words. Easy Pictures.

You need a horse, not a frown-y face.

Start putting pictures of horses in the food, silly!!!!

I have to agree with Aarene here. I think you should be printing off photos of your new pony love and putting those on his plate frequently, until he takes the hint and complies.
